Nautical Twilight Galaxy

A dark night in the valley of the Cayoosh Creek. Was still waiting for the galactic center to rise above the treeline and as the sky is still in dark blue. This valley is extremely dark as there are almost no light pollution. And the darker it gets, the more stars we can photography!! So many stars that they look like a lots of noise…..!

Camping Fun

Few night shots from a night camping out in the dark! Do you like camping? If so, What is the most fun part of camping to you? To me, these are the moments I love best!! 😀

Star Painting

Milky way above treeline with a bright star shine on the lake surface as wind blowing strong this evening. The waves on the lake moving quickly causing the wiggly lines with the long exposure! Not a usual capture on the lake surface…!
Have a great evening!

Chasing the Sky

Whenever I travel to chase the dark sky, always try to capture some different image on the same night. But it is tricky and not easy to travel to multiple locations on the same night as it’s often not a very long period of time to shoot the center of the milky way. Also it will be very hard to find and frame your shot under the dark sky. So some preparation will always helps!

Are you interested in chasing the night sky and take photo of the night sky like these? If so, I will be holding 2 workshops next August in Banff / Jasper National Park on Landscape / Waterscapes and Nightscapes Photography!

Close Up NEOWISE

Another shot taken from the NEOWISE Comet chasing week back in August. Although it was still in August, the temperature was a little cold as it was in a higher elevation in the Canadian Rockies.

Around The Sign

I have started a new habit of changing lens during shooting at night. Particularly when shooting the milky way. Also started to use a large aperture f/1.4 50mm lens to shoot (one of my first lens from when I have my first 7D. There are some issues when shooting with this lens, especially with “Astigmatism” being quite horrifying in the corner… It happened when you wide open your lens. Like the 2 examples below are shot at f/1.8 and 2.0

And to switch to a 20mm lens to included the sign of Banff National Park.

Some times, you go for any kind of foreground even if it is just saw a sign while you were driving!! Well…. I saw it on an afternoon and decided to go back on a clear night as it was just a stop on the way! And you can get to shot at 2 park!! 😀

You can sign up for my 2021 Nightscapes Photography Workshop if you are looking into learning how to photography the beautiful sky at night like these. Check out the link here!

Night Vision

Night Vision

Trying to stay home during this difficult time, I tried to put all my energy to focus on finishing off a lot of photo and video that I shot over the years and not to think too much about the situation. Following the news are important, but it is almost very depressing watching days and months of this craziness happening right in front of our face. What do you do to stay positive these days? And here’s is an image from back in 2017.

Day And Night

Another time lapse video captured during a trip back in 2014 in Oregon and Washington State, but footage have never been used in any of my video before. I guess that’s count as new? 🙂
