A Timelapse Video of The Night Sky 2014
I was born and raised in one of the highest light pollution city in the world – Hong Kong. I never knew the night sky can be so beautiful. After moved to Vancouver for so many years, I still didn’t realize how much difference does it make when you can access to a real dark sky. Until few years ago when I first saw how the night sky, the milky way, the universe can be capture. Seeing the milky way with my own eyes for the first time. I quickly fell in love with that experience, the connection with the nature, the dark night. it is a very addictive experience. Vancouver might not be the best place on earth for stargazing. But sure it can access to some great dark sky within hour. Not to mention there are so many jaw-dropping landscape in the west coast.
Seeing the different stages of the night. No matter it is a full moon, crescent moon, or new moon night, It always surprise me of how beautiful it is. This year, I went on a four weeks road trip in April, drove down to the Southwest of United State and trying to capture some of these beauty at night. I drove 12000 km with a lot of sleepless nights. Here is the final video and I hope you enjoy it like I did!
There are a hand full of shots were using motion dolly. Was having some problem with the dolly after a few days into my trip. So most of the time I can’t use the dolly that I brought with me… So I have to add some movement during post.
