Athabasca Beauty

Athabasca Beauty

Alpenglow on Mount Athabasca and Mount Andromeda along the Icefield Parkway from few days ago. The smoky sky from the forest fire was covering most of the area during my recent trip to the Canadian Rockies. Lucky enough that there are a few window of the sky clearing up for some beautiful lights!

Hope you enjoy it and have a great day!

Canadian Rockies V

It have been many attempt trying to capture some good morning lights at Moraine Lake. Many times waited for the sunrise after shooting at the lake at night. And that finally paid off all those morning that didn’t goes as plan.

The Golden Morning

Another part of the Canadian Rockies that I’ve been willing to visit is the Waterton Lakes National Park by the US Border. And I finally make my trip there. But before getting to Waterton Lakes National Park, there is another gem along Highway 3. The Lundbreck Falls is a great place for a stop or even camp for the night!

And I’ve taken many photos just along the way like this one

Borderline

And this is a great lookout point where I took this panorama shot in the afternoon

After entering Waterton Lakes National Park, I drove around try to find location for a astro time lapse shot. And this is one of the frame from the time lapse sequence

Waterton Galaxy

Remember my little red car I love taking night photo with from one of my Canadian Rockies post? That photo was the last photo of her and her life was ended here by the lake. To make the story short, I hit a short cement pole damage the watercooler. After freaking out for few hours, I finally calm down and decided what I can do at the time on this long sleepless night…. SHOOT!!!

Here are some of the photos from that night and the next morning before I can call for a tow truck to drive 2 hours from Lethbridge…

Lights Before Dawn

Unforgettable Dawn

Reflective Vibration

And a short time lapse on this same location since I can’t really drive my car any more… There are still many photos I took from Waterton that just sitting in the hard drive. I guess it is time to dig those out again!!

The story didn’t end there, want to know where to? Please check out the next chapter!! 🙂

Arc Above O’Hara

Milky way above Lake O’Hara. The most iconic spot at this beautiful place. Moon was about to set behind me with the last bit of moon lights on Mount Huber and Glacier Peak in the middle. Aurora also decided to come out and play behind Wiwaxy Peak on the left towards the northern direction

Schaffer Galaxy

Milky way above Mount Schaffer at Lake O’Hara, Yoho National Park, British Columbia. The last night I stayed at Lake O’Hara and I left the Lake O’Hara circut trail night hike on the very last night at I knew I’ll be super tired after three full days of hiking to different peak within the area. And it was a great choice as I didn’t went far on this very last night and have to call it the end of the night only around 2am 🙂

Lake McArthur Sunset

It was the last sunset I stayed at Yoho National Park back in June 2015. I spent the afternoon with my friend at Lake McArthur and have the whole area all to ourself. It was a beautiful and peaceful evening.

An Unforgettable Night

A Night that I will never ever forget in my life. A lot of first time happened to me on this beautiful night. First time sleeping on top of a mountain without a tent, first time spending a night at 8000 feet above sea level, and first time watching aurora dancing all night right above my head. And of course it will have to combined with the first 2 conditions in order to have nothing between you and the night skies!! 🙂 And yes. I took another shot of this very same spot on the next morning and posted it a while ago already!! (If the composition looks familiar to you!!)

Hope you enjoy it!!
Have a great weekend!!

Cascade Lakes are the last lakes (as it contains a few small lakes) on the Opabin Plateau before running downstream to Lake O’Hara. The bright lights from the northern direction on the horizon is the last little bit of aurora from this particular night. Color started fading away as the morning is approaching quickly!

Hope you enjoy it!!
